Mine was the same - very disappointed with the battery lifespan.

I bought one of these and at first thought the same as your 5 star reviews. However after six months I have the same problem as others with the rechargeable battery which now does not recharge.I feel Waterpik should withdraw this model from the market till they resolve the battery problem

Great when it works!! My Waterpik battery failed within 6 months so I\'ve switched to a Panasonic 1211 model and it\'s much better quality. I\'ve had it for over a year without any trouble at all. I strongly recommend the Panasonic.

I agree the battery life should be sorted - I have had THREE of these and taken each one back to Boots who have replaced them without question when the betterey failed to recharge after about a year but I am on my FOURTH now and sure enough this also ceasing to recharge - so another trip to Boots, but I think I will change brands because I am sick of Waterpik not solving this ongoing problem!

FANTASTIC!!, this realy is the way forward for those who don't get on with flossing! or have very little time, As a dental nurse myself i was a little sceptical to say the least, now I wouldn't be without it! for first time users I would reccemend using it in the shower tho LOL as it goes every where until you get used to it. Good when working, but battery life is appalling and not replaceable. I bought my water jet in October 2009. Replacement needed after 6 months following failure of rechargeable battery despite following recharging recommendations. Unit replaced under warranty, but after paying post and packaging. Battery in replacement unit again failed. Given up on Waterpik, will try Panasonic.
