Prima Home C-Reactive Protein Test for Inflammation and Infection

Self-Test for the detection of C-Reactive Protein levels in blood

WHAT IS C-REACTIVE PROTEIN TEST FOR?
The C-Reactive Protein Test checks the levels of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) in blood in order to detect the presence of viral or bacterial infections and inflammatory disorders that can damage your body.

WHAT IS CRP?
The C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a non-specific marker which is mainly produced by the liver and used to diagnose bacterial infectious disease and inflammatory disorders.
Its concentration in blood can also increases after some surgical operations.
Following an acute event, CRP levels can reach values hundreds of times higher than baseline conditions after a few hours.
In healthy individuals the concentration of CRP in blood is less than 8 mg/L, this may be higher than 100 mg/L in case of patients with a severe infectious or inflammatory state.
Intermediate levels are concomitant with more or less mildly viral or bacterial infections that can be easily overcome by appropriate treatment from a doctor.

WHO SHOULD USE THE C-REACTIVE PROTEIN TEST?
C-Reactive Protein Test should be performed in case of acute infection symptoms such as feverishness, fever, headaches or weakness.
The Test can be performed at any time.

HOW DOES THE C-REACTIVE PROTEIN TEST WORK?
The C-Reactive Protein Test is an immunochromatographic assay which, thanks to specific antibodies, is able to detect in a semi-quantitative way the level of CRP in blood. Through the appearance of a different number of bands, the C-Reactive Protein Test is able to detect if the concentration of CRP is below 8 ml/L, if it is between 8 and 40 mg/L, between 40 and 100 mg/L or above 100 mg/L.
Results at home in just 5 minutes.

WHEN SHOULD I DO THE C-REACTIVE PROTEIN TEST?
In presence of specific symptoms such as fever, fatigue or headache, it is advisable to perform the CRP Test with the aim of identifying any inflammatory states and to continue with a pharmacological treatment under medical advice.
