Description
The CoolMeds Global isothermal case has been clinically tested and validated to safely transport 2-8°C medication for 30 to 36 hrs*.

It is important 2-8°C medication does not exceed 8°C or drop below 2°C, where it is in danger of freezing. The Global provides a solution to this.

The Global was designed as a 2-8°C case for the following requirements:
• to hold larger pens and bottles that don't fit into conventional 2-8°C cases,
and/or
• to hold greater quantities of medication,
and/or
• to provide the longest period of 2-8°C protection - up to 36 hours.

The Global is made from high-quality material with multiple layers of insulation for maximum protection. To protect the medication from over-cooling and freezing, the insulation and cool cage absorb the initial excess cold and then distribute the cold evenly through to the medication. This process creates a sealed and stable 2-8°C micro-environment for the medication.

The Global has been extensively tested and has passed the 2-8°C validation with flying colours. Test data indicates that the two outermost sections of the cool cage last up to 30 hours at 2-8°C and the rest of the inner sections of the cool cage last up to 36 hours. Therefore, if more than 30 hours are needed, ensure that the medication is not placed in the two outer sections of the cool cage. This is achieved by simply sliding the removable dividers into the cool cage to effectively block off the two outer sections. If 60 ml bottles are to be transported, then position the lids of the bottles towards the outer two sections as shown in the photo. This way, the liquid medication is always located in the innermost cold section of the cool cage. The information leaflet that comes with the case goes into more detail.

In addition to the cool cage, the Global comes with a fluted cool cage. The fluted cool cage is useful for transporting boxes of medication when the contents of the box should not be exposed to light. The fluted cool cage accommodates boxes measuring up to 204 (L) x 53 (W) x 160 (H) mm.
NB: medication should not be placed in the case without using either the cool cage or the fluted cool cage, as the medication will come into direct contact with the frozen cold packs, and this will partially freeze the medication.

The two ribbed CoolMeds cold packs flank the cool cage and guard against over-cooling by ensuring a narrow space is kept between the frozen cold packs and the cool cage. The same applies when using the fluted cool cage. This space creates an effective buffer zone which diffuses the cold and protects the medication from over-cooling. For this reason, no other type of cold pack should be used in the Global. Cold packs may also be bought separately as spares and they should be replaced every 24 months as the gel denatures over time.
